Girls Recreational Classes |
Girls recreational gymnastic classes are for girls five years old and up. The classes
consist of one to three hours of Level C-H classes. Our student-teacher ratio
is 8:1. Children will develop strength, flexibility, |
coordination, discipline, and self-confidence through the mastery of
fundamental and progressive gymnastic skills. Girls will work on all the women's events: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. They will also work on three different types of trampolines, as well as many other learning tools used to teach the necessary gymnastic skills. All classes are organized on the basis of age, gender, and ability. Advancement from one level to the next is based on the guidelines set by USA Gymnastics and the Santa Rosa Gymnastics Center. See our Skill Card at the front desk for more information on the required skills at each level. |

Assessment and Advancement |
: Each student is placed in classes that are appropriate to his or her physical and
emotional development. Advancement to the next level is based on ongoing assessment
by the staff. Evaluation cards are used to track individual achievement
of each child. |
These evaluations are helpful in determining if another class may better meet the
needs of the child. There are recreational and developmental classes at Levels A-H for girls and boys. There are team classes Levels 4-10 for girls. |
have excellent listening skills, a good work ethic, as well as good strength and
flexibility. |

Advancement from one level to the next is based on passing the skill proficiency
set by the standards established by USA Gymnastics and SRGC. After passing a level,
each student gets a certificate. The student also gets his or her photograph
taken and put up on our "Movin' Up" board for that month! Most of the time,
a student's entire class will move up at the same time. Thus, the level of the
class changes, but the time or day that the class meets. If a child moves up faster
than his or her class, another class at the appropriate level will be recommended. |
